ANN TAYLOR AND KATE HUDSON TO DEBUT CAPSULE COLLECTION

Hudson returns as ambassador for spring/summer 2013 campaign

Ann Taylor is thrilled to announce that award-winning actress Kate Hudson will return as ambassador of its spring and summer 2013 campaigns. This year, Hudson’s role will take on more importance and she will serve in a larger capacity, as both a design influence and charitable ambassador. For the summer collection, she will be developing a capsule collection for the brand. In addition, she will join the Advisory Council for the company’s ANNpower Vital Voices Initiative, a program that supports the empowerment of young women.



The spring 2013 ad campaign was shot by famed fashion photographer Norman Jean Roy at Milk Studios in Los Angeles. Debuting in early February, the campaign features Hudson wearing inspired bold mix of vibrant colors, modern florals and graphic prints. She instantly connected with the season’s looks including many of the dresses from the collection, wearing them with confidence and natural style. “I’m a dress girl through and through,“ Hudson said.

“Working with Ann Taylor has been a great creative experience and there is a really wonderful connection. Putting these outfits together has been incredibly fun – they have such youthful energy and flair!” Hudson said. “I got to dance on a treadmill wearing some amazing dresses and heels while being photographed in front a giant digital screen when we shot this new campaign.”

As part of the relationship, Hudson will make her first foray into fashion design as she collaborates with Creative Director Lisa Axelson on the summer capsule. Planned for May, the limited edition capsule is inspired by Hudson’s chic red carpet style, recreated and brought to life for everyday occasions.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Kate Hudson,” said Lisa Axelson, Creative Director at Ann Taylor. “Her confident spirit inspires us. She lives the many roles in her life with such chic, effortless style.”

Broadening her role with the brand, Hudson, a long time advocate for empowering young women, will also serve on the ANNpower Advisory Council. The ANNpower Vital Voices Initiative provides leadership skills to young women, empowering them to affect global progress, invest in their communities and begin their journeys as the next generation of leaders.

All items featured in the spring 2013 campaign will be available in late February in Ann Taylor stores nationwide and on www.anntaylor.com. The summer capsule collection will be available in May.

Kate Hudson to Design Capsule Collection for Ann Taylor

We’ve already seen Kate Hudson stand in front of the lens for Ann Taylor, but come Spring 2013 she will be taking on a bigger role for the all-American chain by designing a summer capsule collection for the brand. She worked alongside Ann Taylor’s creative director Lisa Axelson on a limited-edition line, inspired by her red-carpet style, and it will be available in May.

“Ann Taylor really knows how to design pieces that can live in your closet season after season,” Hudson told ELLE.com “I’m a big believer in getting as much use out of one piece as you possibly can.”

Hudson’s ambassador role will also be expanded as she is joining the advisory council for the company’s ANNpower Vital Voices Initiative, a program that aims to empower women. But that’s not all: She again fronts the Spring 2013 campaign, shot by Norman Jean Roy at Milk Studios in Los Angeles. Expect to see the actress in vibrant colors, modern florals, and graphic prints.

And which piece is her favorite? “I think the bright colors, sharper lines, and graphic prints give the spring collection a really cool twist,” Hudson enthused. “I love the versatility in this collection. I fell in love with this new little black dress.”

KATE HUDSON’S CAPSULE COLLECTION: Kate Hudson has re-signed for another season as the face of Ann Taylor, broadening her role this time around with a stint as a guest designer on a capsule collection for summer. Working with Lisa Axelson, creative director at Ann Taylor, Hudson helped create a lineup of looks inspired by her red-carpet style, reinterpreted for everyday occasions.

“Working with Ann Taylor has been a great creative experience, and there is a really wonderful connection,” said Hudson, who first appeared in the retailer’s spring 2012 campaign. “Ann Taylor is great at creating iconic wardrobe staples and updating them season after season. I love that Lisa Axelson is designing clothes for real women.”

The Hudson-helmed capsule collection, which is her first foray into fashion design, will be available in Ann Taylor stores in May.

The actress, who’s made a splash portraying a dance instructor on “Glee,” will also join the advisory council for Ann Inc.’s ANNpower Vital Voices Initiative. The effort is a partnership between Ann Inc., parent company of Ann Taylor, and the Vital Voices Global Partnership, which is aimed at empowering young women to serve as global leaders. As part of the advisory council, Hudson will help select grant proposals and serve as a mentor to the high school-aged fellows of the initiative.

The new spring campaign breaks in early February and was shot by Norman Jean Roy at Milk Studios in Los Angeles. Items featured in the advertising will be available in 280 Ann Taylor stores and its e-commerce site next month.
