2008
2008 had been a good year for Kate, and us, her fans! Read on for a little review of the year, and share your thoughts at
the forum or by posting a comment here.
Favourite Red Carpet Look
 
2008 saw a slight change in Kate's red carpet style, as she was seen in more sleek, designer-esque gowns. She didn't lose any
of her edge though - in April she sported a murky green Oriental-style Galliano dress on the red carpet for Fool's Gold
in London, and 6 months later she pulled off a yellow/green dress that looked like it was made of crepe paper. And who would've
thought a beige leather mini dress could look so elegant? Looking back, my personal favourites would be the SAG Awards dress
(reminiscent of her much-loved 2003 Golden Globe dress, but still so pretty), the My Best Friend's Girl LA Premiere
dress ... and the Fontainbleu Opening dress scores high points because the colour is hard to pull off but Miss Hudson does
it perfectly. And a special mention goes to the perfect 60s style dress she wore at the Miami Film Festival!
Favourite Hairstyle
 
Kate's famous for her golden locks, and she knows it looks best when left simple. She tried bangs at the start of the year,
which sometimes worked and other times didn't, and she sported a cute plait at the BAFTAs. Kate's envied golden locks
naturally looked gorgeous and healthy at the launch of the David Babaii for WildAid line, and this style gets my vote for
favourite of the year.

There's been a lot of great Kate news in 2008 - People Magazine told us what we already knew by naming Kate as their Most
Beautiful Person in May. Kate took advantage of her much loved hair by working with her long-term hair stylist David
Babaii on a range of hair products made from natural ingredients, with some of the profits going to WildAid - Kate doesn't
like her charity work to be too publicised, but she chose an admirable cause to support here. Kate's first film release
of the year - Fool's Gold opened at #1 in the US, despite unfavourable reviews. In terms of her personal life,
a reunion with Owen Wilson occured in early 2008 but didn't last, and Kate then spent a few months dating Owen's friend,
Lance Armstrong. The news of Kate signing on for Nine - a totally different kind of project for her, alongside
some of the greatest actresses of our time, plus Daniel Day Lewis - and the People 100 Most Beautiful cover were my
personal highlights.

My Best Friend's Girl was arguably a low point in Kate's career. Kate got back together with Owen Wilson, then split
up with him ... then she dated Lance Armstrong before parting ways in the late summer.

Technically In Style and Harper's Bazaar are 2009 magazines, but because they were available to buy in 2008 they're included
here ;) Harper's Bazaar (sexy!) and Elle (fun!) are by far my favourite Kate covers of the year, and People comes in 2nd!

The camera loves Kate, and she knows how to have fun in front of it! From playful (Glamour) to casual (Session #074) to
futuristic (W) to cute (Cosmo) ... to sexy again (Harper's Bazaar) we've had the full range this year. People Magazine's
full set is simply stunning, and wins my vote for best of the year.

I am a homebody person. Youll hardly see me out. Ill go to a restaurant or a mellow bar and have a drink with a
friend. Im not a party girl. Ive never looked for it. Im enjoying my time alone. If anything, Im shutting down
for a second. Im into being at home with my son and working.
The more you go through things and the more difficult they are, you build up walls. Its like that idea they talk about,
stripping layers off an onion till you reach your core. But we do the opposite: instead of stripping the onion we grow this
weird coating. So, for me, I really need to focus on not losing spontaneity. The most important part of life is to enjoy
falling in love, enjoy the heartache, enjoy all of it.
We are all searching for those answers, though. You go to self-help sections, its all about relationships. Its in movies
and literature and song. Its the most widely accessible topic of humankind. Its fun to talk about because we cant figure
it out. Its like death. Well never really know what the answer is, we just have to try to enjoy it.
Kate is not shy in speaking her mind, and a more mature, thoughtful Kate can be observed in her interviews and quotes
this year. She always puts an emphasis on the importance of her son, ex-husband and her family.

2009 is going to be big for Kate! Bride Wars looks hilarious, but Nine has an incredible cast. Can't they
