Kate Hudson: Rock 'n' Roll Bride
E! Online, January 2nd 2001

Almost Famous poster child Kate Hudson, moviedom's top rock groupie, is ready to honeymoon after a real-life rock 'n' roll wedding.

The 21-year-old actress and daughter of Goldie Hawn tied the knot New Year's Eve with her southern harmony and musical companion Chris Robinson, the lanky 34-year-old frontman of the Black Crowes. The couple made it official in an evening ceremony at the Aspen, Colorado, ranch of Hawn and her longtime boyfriend Kurt Russell, according to the actress' publicist.

More relaxed than the glitzy papparrazi-plagued Y2K weddings of Madonna and Guy Ritchie and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Hudson and Robinson exchanged vows before more than 70 close family and friends in a small, private ceremony. a d v e r t i s e m e n t

Among the celebs reported to be on the guest list were the rest of the Crowes, Sally Field and even newlyweds Douglas and Zeta-Jones.

Robinson's younger brother, Rich, guitarist and songwriting partner for the Crowes, stood in as best man. Russell gave the bride away. (Hudson's estranged biological father, comedian Bill Hudson, was not in attendance.)

In keeping with the romantic 19th century theme of the event, Hudson donned a strapless ivory silk duchesse satin ballgown featuring a hand-stitched corset bodice, while maid-of-honor Dyani Redclay and mother-of-the-bride Hawn wore original gowns created by top fashion designer Vera Wang. The groom, best man and Russell were all decked out in hand-tailored charcoal gray sharkskin suits designed by famous Italian menswear house, Brioni.

It's not known whether the oft-feuding Crowes broke out any of their signature songs or whether Robinson serenaded his sweetheart at the party ("She Talks to Angels" maybe?).

This is the first marriage for Hudson and second for Robinson. The newlyweds have been dating about a year.

No word on honeymoon plans, but if their busy schedules are any indication, it may not be for awhile. Hudson flies to London next week to star in Elizabeth director Shekhar Kapur's remake of the 1939 war drama Four Feathers, while Robinson's supposed to be heading back to the recording studio to work on the Crowes' next album and prepare for an upcoming tour with Oasis (which features those other famous battling rock siblings, Liam and Noel Gallagher).

The Black Crowes first hit it big in the early '90s with such tunes as "Jealous Again", "She Talks to Angels", "Remedy" and a scorching cover of Otis Redding's "Hard to Handle." Last summer, the band toured with former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.

In addition to her breakout, Golden Globe-nominated role as Penny Lane in Almost Famous, Hudson also starred last year in Robert Altman's Dr. T and the Women and the Gen-Y thriller Gossip.
